The Orchard Residences

The Harmony of Light, Wood, and Stone.

This 2,174 sqft apartment, located in the heart of Singapore’s bustling Orchard Road, is a peaceful urban haven for its occupants. The client’s brief was anchored by a desire for their three-bedroom home to embody balance and restraint, while encouraging pause and reflection.

Light plays a central role, from the warmth of noon spilling across tiled floors to the soft reflection of the city captured in polished stone.

Designed for Pause

Adorned in warm, delicate tones, the living area exudes calm and openness. Daylight filters through drawn curtains, casting a gentle glow across the interior.

Select pieces from Italian design houses, including Minotti, bring understated refinement, their ivory tones and dark accents inviting one to linger. Beyond the expansive sofa, a round, veined marble tabletop, complemented by chairs of rich walnut, defines the dining area with sophistication.

A stone island atop bespoke carpentry takes centre stage in the kitchen, framed by darker wood cladding that lends a refined elegance to the space. With appliances and storage seamlessly integrated into the cabinetry, the space reveals a graceful, uncluttered simplicity.

Moving past the kitchen, wooden flooring and wall panelling signal a shift from communal spaces to something decidedly more intimate.

The master bedroom was designed as a peaceful retreat, where a leather-wrapped bed from B&B Italia gently cocoons one in a restful embrace. Around it, thoughtfully selected lighting works in concert to shape the ambience: an elegant Santa & Cole nightlight casts a soft, ambient glow, while an artfully placed Louis Poulsen floor lamp scatters gentle radiance across the room.

Quiet Comfort

The ensuite opens onto uninterrupted views of the surrounding cityscape. A full-sized bathtub draws the eye, set against Venetian blinds that filter light while offering privacy.

Specially crafted for the lady of the house, the walk-in wardrobe harmonises functionality with personal elegance. Floor-to-ceiling mirrors and wooden panels evoke greater visual expansiveness, accompanied by a custom central display and storage area. Her vanity is kept minimal, featuring open shelving and an elegant stool from Molteni&C.

A Sensorial Affair

To extend their design philosophy beyond interiors, EightyTwo collaborates with partners on a curated lifestyle collection, The EightyTwo Homekit, to offer the ultimate sensorial journey.

“The client was drawn to the studio’s ability to translate abstract ideas into well-resolved spaces,” remarks the EightyTwo design team. This rewarding collaboration was borne from a connection upheld by trust between client and firm, refining every space to inspire calm, reflection, and wellness.
